A hay rack is a light wooden structure placed usually in the woods, the purpose of which is feeding the deer. The feeding is carried out mainly in the winter, when the other food sources (green forage) are scarce.
The hay rack is filled with hay, besides hay there is often also a mineral lick near the rack, where the deer can obtain essential mineral nutrients.
